A World on the Brink is a television documentary series on global change and social and geopolitical risk, featuring Dee Smith, who is a writer, presenter, and executive producer of the series. A World on the Brink was produced by Real Vision Television.
A World on the Brink provides insight into the reasons for the increasingly unpredictable changes that continue to roil the political, economic, and social spheres in country after country, around the world. Smith interviewed 19 leaders in areas as diverse as psychology, finance, engineering, theology, foreign policy, diplomacy, the military, law, and history, to penetrate beyond superficial explanations and look at the more fundamental causes for the increasing fracturing and escalating threats. Using high-definition cinematography, the series travels the world to examine the rising hazards we face, from globalization to anti-globalization, from world order to social decohesion, from cyber war to bio threats. A World on the Brink offers timely, multi-faceted views on the crises of our times: What is really going on? Why is it happening? Where might it lead? And what might we do about it?
The series exists in 2 versions: the original 5-part series produced by Real Vision Television for a global audience, and a 4-part series produced by Real Vision Television in association with Grace Creek Media for the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) in the United States.
